More Elements of Jewish Life

The Lehigh Valley is home to everything you need to live your life Jewishly for all levels of observance.

Mikvah

The Lehigh Valley Community Mikvah has served our community since 1963 and the current mikvah was built in 2006. It is modern and asthetically pleasing. Its location on College Heights Boulevard in Allentown receives regular use by Jews of all denominations and affiliations. Jews from across the Lehigh Valley and beyond use the mikvah for purposes as varied as conversion, taharat hamishpachah and celebration of momentous lifecycle events.

Kosher Food

Local supermarkets, including Weis, Giant and Wegmans, feature a good variety of kosher foods. Additionally, the bakeries at Weis on Cedar Crest Boulevard and Route 22 and Giant in the Tilghman Square shopping center in Allentown are certified kosher. Also in Tilghman Square, you'll find kosher bagels at Manhattan Bagel and kosher treats are available at Rita'sMenchie's and Carvel. Nearby Muhlenberg College also has a kosher dining hall available to the public and many local caterers provide kosher meals. And the Lehigh Valley's first kosher winery, Binah Winery, is located in Allentown. For the most up-to-date information, visit www.lvkosher.org

Family Programs

There is no shortage of things to do for young Jewish families here in the Lehigh Valley. PJ Library hosts a wide variety of programs throughout the year geared toward families of all denominations. The Jewish Community Center of the Lehigh Valley hosts events for the Jewish holidays, is home to a swim team and basketball league, and offers a variety of opportunities for young families to meet. Many synagogues offer family programming open to members and more. From spaghetti dinners to bingo nights, the Jewish Day School often holds after-school events for both students and community members.
